Black Canyon, seen from the southeast, leads down to Trail Creek Ranch from Mount Elly (9,279 ft.) and is a common descent to the base of Teton Pass. Mount Elly is reached from Teton Pass summit via Pass Ridge. Some identify the three prominent slopes under the Southeast Ridge as the original Triple Direct.
